এখানে সাধারনত tone, audience, purpose, voice, style, form ইত্যাদি নিয়ে আলোচনা করা হয়।

প্রথমে tone নিয়ে আলোচনা করছিঃ-

যদি tone আসে তাহলে আগে ‘tone’এর ডেফিনিশনটা লিখবেন। নিচে লিখে দেয়া আছে…..

Tone:

Tone is an attitude of a writer towards a subject or an audience. Every written piece comprises a central theme or subject matter. The manner in which a writer approaches this theme and subject is the tone. Tone is not “what” the writer says but “how” how he says something.

অর্থাৎ, Tone হচ্ছে একটা বিষয় বা শ্রোতাদের উপর একজন লেখকের মনোভাব। প্রতিটি লিখিত অংশে একটি মূলভাব বা বিষয় থাকে।অর্থাৎ, যে পন্থা অবলম্বন করে একজন লেখক তার মূল মনোভাব প্রকাশ করে তাকেই Tone বলে। Tone সেটা নয় যা লেখক বলে; Tone তাকেই বলে যেভাবে লেখক কিছু বলে। Tone অনেক প্রকারের হতে পারে, যেমনঃ-

Tone may be formal, informal, serious, comic, sarcastic, sad, gay, optimistic etc.

Form:

Form হচ্ছে কোন লেখা উপস্থাপনের ধরণ। অর্থাৎ এটি হচ্ছে এক ধরনের কাঠামো যার মাধ্যমে কোন বিষয়কে পাঠকের সামনে তুলে ধরা হয়। যেমন একজন লেখক তার বিষয়বস্তুকে Drama, Novel, Essay, Letter, Story, Dialogue, short story, paragraph, report, research paper বিভিন্ন form এ প্রকাশ করতে পারেন। পরীক্ষায় কোনটা এসেছে সেটা বুঝে আপনাকে লিখতে হবে।

Author’s Voice:

It is the reflection of the writer’s attitude toward their subject, characters and readers.

অর্থাৎ, লেখক তার লেখার মধ্যে যেভাবে সুখ বা দুঃখের অনুভূতি প্রকাশ করে তাকেই Author’s voice বলে। একজন লেখক কারো প্রতি ঠাট্টা বা ব্যাঙ্গ-বিদ্রুপ প্রকাশ করতে পারেন বা কারো প্রতি রাগ বা ঘৃণা প্রকাশ করতে পারেন। যদি সেই সুখ বা দুঃখ তার নিজের জীবন সংবলিত হয় তাহলে সেটা হবে Subjective আর যদি যদি সে নিজের সম্পূর্ণ তার লেখা থেকে দূরে রাখেন তাহলে সেটা হবে Objective. লেখকের এই ধরনের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিকেই Author’s voice বলে।

Voice should be subjective or objective.

যদি লেখক নিজের feelings, likes, dislikes, emtions তার লেখার মাধ্যমে প্রকাশ করে তবে সেটা subjective অন্যথায় objective voice হবে।

Style:

In literature, writing style is the manner of expressing thought in language characteristic of an individual, period, school, or nation.

অর্থাৎ style হচ্ছে লেখকের লেখার ধরন। এটি মূলত “ভাষাকেন্দ্রিক”। এর মধ্যে পড়ে arrangement of ideas, word choice, use of figurative language, sentence structure, repetition, formal and informal expressions etc.

এটি মূলত লেখক কোন বিষয়ে কাকে উদ্দেশ্য করে লিখবে তার উপর নির্ভর করে। যেমন বন্ধু -বান্ধবদের কাছে লিখলে সেটা হবে informal কিন্তু যখন প্রশাসনিক বা দাপ্তরিক বিষয়ে কারো কাছে লিখবে তখন সেটা হবে formal.

Mood:

Mood is the reader’s feeling about the subject.

অর্থাৎ mood হচ্ছে লেখকের লেখার উপর পাঠকের মনোভাব। এটা সাধারণত Positive বা Negative দুই ধরনেরই হতে পারে। সেটা পাঠকের উপর নির্ভর করে।

Positive mood may be cheerful, confident, optimistic, passionate.

Negative mood may be annoyed, anxious, cynical, bitter, satiric, depressed and painful etc.

Purpose:

Purpose বলতে বোঝায় লেখক তার লেখার মাধ্যমে কি বোঝাতে চেয়েছেন। সেটা হতে পারে

—-giving entertainment

—-giving information

—-convince or persuade

—- teaching a lesson etc.

Audience:

এখানে audience বলতে বোঝায় লেখক কাদের সামনে তার লেখাটা উপস্থাপন করবেন। সেটা হতে পারে

—- relative(father, mother, sister)

—- general people, selected person

—- critics etc.

নিচে কয়েকটি উদাহরন দিয়ে বুঝিয়ে দিচ্ছি কখন কোনটা থাকলে কীভাবে লিখতে হবে।সবসময় এই নিয়মে নাও পড়তে পারে সেটা বুঝে লিখতে হবে।

☞☞1.Form— short story/letter এ থাকলে Voice হবে মূলত subjective, style হবে informal এবং common language এর, audience হবে relative(father, mother, sister) আর purpose হবে giving entertainment.

☞☞2.Form — paragraph /essay থাকলে Voice হবে objective, style হবে formal এ standard language এর, audience হবে general readers আর purpose হবে giving information.

☞☞3.Form — report/research paper এ থাকলে Voice হবে objective, style হবে figurative language, audience হবে critics আর purpose হবে convince করা.

When we write about him the form of writing related to the topic “William Wordsworth” should be an essay, literary criticism or research paper etc. containing adequate ideas, analysis, description, example etc. The language should be figurative or standard quality and its voice should be objective one.

আমাদের কলেজের স্যারের কাছে জিজ্ঞেস করেছিলাম এটা কতবড় লেখা যায়? স্যার বলেছিলেন এখানে শুধু main point গুলো লিখলেই যথেষ্ট। তাই এটা বেশি বড় করার প্রয়োজন নেই। তাই আমিও সেভাবেই করেছি। যদি পারেন আর একটু বড় করে লিখবেন।[আর হ্যাঁ, যদি প্রশ্নে উল্লিখিত থাকে যে ৪-৫ লাইনে লিখতে হবে তাহলে তাই’ই লিখবেন আর না থাকলে ১-২ পেইজের মধ্যে হলেই হবে।

When we write about him the form of writing related to the topic “William Wordsworth” should be an essay, literary criticism or research paper etc. containing adequate ideas, analysis, description, example etc. The language should be figurative or standard quality or formal and its voice should be objective one. The purpose “to expose the reader about William Wordsworth” may be discussed about his writing, his diction, his poetic style, his life sketch etc and the audience/audiences for the topic should be the experts or the critics.

➤⇨✪Topic Sentence

অনেকেই এটা নিয়ে অনেক কিছু বলে। আমার কলেজের স্যারদের থেকে যা জেনেছি আর আমি পরীক্ষায় যেভাবে লিখেছিলাম সেভাবেই বলছি।

1st Year এ Writing Skills এ যখন topic sentence লিখতে হত তখন মূলত সেটা ১(২) লাইনেই লিখতাম কারণ ওটা ব্রিফে আসতো। কিন্তু যেহেতু এখানে ৪ মার্কের জন্য তাই ১ লাইন লিখলে কখনোই ৪ মার্ক দিবেনা। সেক্ষেত্রে আপনারা প্রথম লাইনে topic’টার topic sentence লিখবেন তারপর ঐ সম্পর্কিত মোটামুটি কিছু আইডিয়া লিখবেন। অনেক সময় প্রশ্নে উল্লেখ করে দেয় ৪ লাইনের মধ্যে লিখতে, তাহলে ৪ লাইনের মধ্যে মোটামুটি টপিক সম্পর্কে একটা আইডিয়া তুলে ধরবেন। উদাহরণ দিয়ে বুঝিয়ে দিচ্ছি,

মনে করুন topic থাকলো ”A Book Fair’. সেক্ষেত্রে এরকমটা লিখতে পারেনঃ-

A book fair is a place where different kinds of books are displayed and sold. Though a book fair is usually held in January or February but in our country it is held in almost all cities and towns sometimes it is held in the village. In every year, Bangla Academy organizes the most significant book fair on the occasion of the 21st of February. It has a tremendous effect for creating a sense of interest for books amongst the general mass.

দেখুন এখানে, প্রথম লাইনে topic sentence টা লেখা হয়েছে আর পরের লাইনগুলোতে topic সম্পর্কিত কিছু আইডিয়া লেখা হয়েছে।
